With the sun radiating more energy onto the earth’s surface in one hour than the entire human population uses in one year, solar energy has been identified as an integral energy source in the race for cleaner energy alternatives.
The Solar Energy for Net Zero Research Excellence Cluster is the first research group of its kind in British Columbia dedicated to solar energy research, from fundamental science to systems integration, training and policy. Our multidisciplinary team of principal investigators from UBC’s Vancouver and Okanagan campuses are collaborating to advance our understanding of harnessing, converting, storing and using solar energy with the aim to accelerate vast solar energy deployment.
