Uhl_Profile Picture

Dr. Alexander Uhl, cluster co-lead, is an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering at UBC Okanagan.

With a focus on materials and technologies for solar energy conversion, Dr. Uhl and his Laboratory for Solar Energy and Fuels (LSEF) develops printed thin solar cells, multi-junction tandem solar cells and catalysts and photoelectrochemical devices for clean and renewable electricity and storable fuels. Solar cells form the basis of solar panels, which produce renewable energy. Further emphasis is devoted to solar system design and community engagement to increase the uptake of solar energy technologies in support of GHG mitigation targets. Dr. Uhl and his research team are leading the development of all stages of solar energy, from material research to solar energy systems.

His research interests include solution-processed thin film solar cells, the design of photochemical devices for solar fuels and tandem devices.
