Jian Liu
Dr. Jian Liu is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering at UBC Okanagan and Principal’s Research Chair in Energy Storage Technologies.
His research interests focus on advanced nanofabrication techniques, materials design for lithium-ion batteries and beyond, and interfacial control and understanding in energy storage systems. His team has advanced a range of clean technologies, including metal-chalcogens batteries, supercapacitors, zinc-ion batteries and hybrid capacitors. Dr. Liu has received several prestigious recognitions, including the UBC Emerging Professor Award (2018), NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship (2014-2016), PNNL Alternated-Sponsored Postdoctoral Fellowship (2015-2016). His research team will contribute to the development of solar materials through his research in atomic layer deposition, and the advancement of solar devices through his research in energy storage systems and next-generation batteries.
